From Our Deputising Acting Principal

Welcome Back to Term 4.

Thought for the Day:

By remembering the past, acknowledging the present,
we look forward to the future...

2023, so far has been a year of changes, change in principals, classrooms, playgrounds and in some cases teachers – we must continue to be grateful for all the things the community of Our Lady of Lourdes offers us – we now look forward to the next 8 weeks of the 2023 school year. Eight weeks filled with finishing off and fulfilling the potential for our learning. Our Year 6 students have been and will continue to experience a sense of “this is the last time.... “but it isn’t the last time – it is a time of adding to, getting ready for new beginnings, new experiences, and time for embracing the past, acknowledging the present and looking forward to the future.

I hope everyone had an amazing Spring Holiday. The Toowoomba Gardens were so pretty. Commiserations to the Brisbane Lions and the Broncos supporters – both teams played well to reach the Grand Final but were pipped at the final siren.  We often discuss playing for the full eighty minutes – that is what we need to do until that bell rings at the end our year on December 1!

As we begin the final term for 2023.

We welcome back Mrs. Broderick, she and her husband Steve have done a wonderful job planting and tending to our gardens and new turf over the holidays. The gardens and turf look amazing. We thank Mr. Hewett for doing some pruning and tidying up of our gardens and footpath shrubs.

We have a busy term 4 ahead. Our Year 5’s are currently at Camp Tallebudgera enjoying the challenges of camp. They will return this afternoon.  All reports so far are they are having a fabulous time. I’m sure there will be some wonderful stories told over the next few days – Camps are such memorable events in our students’ lives. We thank our teachers who have organized, participated and supervised in this camp experience. Parents will be notified of the arrival time via SMS text.

We advertised for a tuckshop convenor and we have appointed  Mrs Kerry Royal. We plan to have our first tuckshop day on Friday 20th October 2023.

We acknowledge the support and work from our previous tuckshop convenor Mrs Teagan Harch - who did a wonderful job of keeping our tuckshop going by providing special days - unfortunately Covid and the extended building program played havoc with this service and Teagan was employed elsewhere. Thank You Teagan!

Parents can sign up to Flexischools via www.flexischools.com.au. Students from 1-6 will be able to order from tuckshop. Orders will need to be in by 6:00pm Thursdays.

Mrs Royal will be looking for Tuckshop Volunteers for Fridays. Volunteers usually work from 8:30am – 2:30pm.

If you are available to volunteer on:

Week 3 Friday 20th October 2023

Week 4 Friday 27th October 2023

Week 5 Friday 3rd November 2023

Week 6 Friday 10th November 2023

Week 7 Friday 17th November 2023

Week 8 Friday 24th November 2023

Week 9 Friday 1st December 2023 (no tuckshop – but clean up)

Please let us know at the office, email the school or myself (Janice.Moore@twb.catholic.edu.au) so Kerry can set up a roster for Term 4. We need at least 2 volunteers per day. Looking forward to lots of volunteers!
