From Our Principal

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that we are now halfway through the 2025 school year. I am very proud of the student progress this Semester and it has been my pleasure to read student report cards before they are distributed this Friday. I am also very proud of the opportunities for engagement our students have had this Semester. Some highlights of the term include:

  • Courage Day and the launch of the Be Safe- Follow the Five
  • Mother’s Day Stall run by our P&F
  • Mother’s Day Mass and Morning tea
  • Sacrament of Confirmation and Eucharist with the Parish
  • Athletics Carnival and Cross Country
  • The extension of the oval on Ascot Street
  • Student representation at West Zone and DD sports
  • Book Fair and Author Visits
  • Netball- student participation at QC Cup
  • TCSO Chess Tournament
  • Sporting schools additional sport sessions for all grades
  • Lunch time clubs- Art, STEM, drama, the Hub and library options
  • The choir’s performance in the Toowoomba Eisteddfod

8a Ascot St Update

The new section of the oval has now been opened, and the children are enjoying the expanded play space.

The Lourdes Way – Student Behaviour and Engagement Guidelines

Over the past 18 months, the staff have worked collaboratively to create guidelines for behaviour and engagement at Lourdes. In 2024, a team of staff worked with Sue Chandler from Transformative Schools to support us in this journey. The guidelines are to support students, staff and parents, providing transparent processes for helping our students live the Lourdes Way. It also provides clear guidance around responding to behaviours that are unsafe. Version 1 of these guidelines will be published to the school website over the holidays.

Shaping our Future Survey

Every two years, families from Toowoomba Catholic School communities share their views through the Shaping our future – Perception Survey. It’s a valuable way for us to reflect on how each of our schools are living out Toowoomba Catholic Schools shared purpose: enabling full and flourishing lives.

This year’s survey will be sent via Sentral on Monday, 21 July. Please keep an eye out for it – your feedback helps shape the future of all 32 Toowoomba Catholic schools.

We will also be asking Years 5 to 12 students from across the diocese to complete a student version of the survey during Catholic Education Week at school.

School Fees

Thank you to the families who have paid their term 2 school fees or have a plan in place to pay for these across the 2025 Academic year. If you need support in the paying of fees, please contact the school office to speak with our finance officer.

Holiday Office Hours

The office hours during the holiday period are 9.00am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday.

Staffing Update

Mrs Dennielle Taylor has resigned from her teaching position. Dennielle has been a valued staff member of Lourdes. We wish Dennielle all the very best. We are glad that she will still be a part of Lourdes community as a parent. We welcome Mrs Katrina Dunne to 1T for the remainder of 2025. Katrina moved to Toowoomba this year after previously being the Principal of St Mary’s Charleville. Katrina brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of teaching to Lourdes. Thank you to Mrs Carol Dennis for your teaching of 1T.

Kate Vanderplas has done a fantastic job over the past 14 months as our tuckshop convenor. Thank you Kate, for the varied and wonderful tuckshop menu you have provided. A new tuckshop convenor will be announced shortly.

Deacon BJ Perrett's Ordination

On Thursday 3rd July at St Patrick's Cathedral at 6:30 pm Deacon BJ Perrett will be ordained as a priest. The Faithful of the Toowoomba Diocese are invited to attend.
