Winners of The Chronicle Carnival of Flowers Garden Competition 2025

Lourdes has once again achieved outstanding results in The Chronicle Garden Competition: 

• 1st place - Schools Category
• 2nd place- Student Garden 

Thank you to Mrs Broderick for her tireless dedication to nurturing our wonderful school gardens, and her team of enthusiastic students who participate in Garden Club every week. We also thank Mr Watt for his fabulous work in maintaining our school grounds. We are incredibly fortunate to enjoy such a fantastic learning environment.

Colour Run Fun!

A huge thank you to our parent volunteers, Year 6 students, and staff who were involved in organising and participating in our Colour Run last week to celebrate our new oval space. It was an enjoyable afternoon filled with sunshine, movement, good tunes, iceblocks, and loads of fun!

Lourdes on the Lawn – Saturday 25 October

Our much-loved annual community event, Lourdes on the Lawn, is just around the corner! Happening next Saturday, 25 October, it promises to be a fantastic day out for the whole family. If you haven’t secured your tickets yet, they’re available via the link shared on OLOL Memos on Facebook or the email sent to parents.

A reminder that this is a P&F-led event, and families are responsible for supervising their own children. Students should not attend without adult supervision. We’re looking forward to seeing many of you there for a fun community event!

Staffing and Class Placements of Students 

To prepare for the staffing for 2026, it is important we know accurate student numbers. If your child/ren is not returning in 2026, please advise the school via email: enrolments@ololtwb.catholic.edu.au

Throughout this term, staff will be working as a cohort to allocate students to classes for 2026. Academic, behavioural, and social-emotional considerations will be prioritised through this process. 

Student Leadership Process

We are approaching the time of the term when our 2026 School and House Captains are nominated. At Our Lady of Lourdes, all Year 6 students take on the responsibility of school leadership. They receive a badge and a leadership shirt at an assembly in Term 1. Later this term, Year 5 students will have the opportunity to apply for a specific school captain position for Year 6. To ensure this process is fair for all students, here is the process for school leadership positions, which is placed on our website page - Policies, Procedures, Plans and Reports.

Supporting Your Child's Learning at Lourdes

A few ways to support your child during this term include: 

• Maintaining routines both at home and school. Predictability supports everyone when we become tired. 
• Establish positive conversations around the school day- What went well today? What did you learn? What was a challenge you overcame today? 
• Reminding our students/children about the learning pit. There are times in the school day when learning or friendships require us to seek support or ‘push through’. This is a normal part of school and life.
