Events/Points Allocation/

Age Champions

Width Events

Students can nominate to swim the Width events if not swimming the 25m or 50m event for Freestyle or Backstroke. 1 point will be awarded to respective Houses for each Width swim completed.

25m Events

1 point will be awarded to respective Houses for each 25m swim completed. Results from 25m events will not contribute to Age Championship points. Placings first (4pts), second (3pts), and third (2pts) will be awarded extra points as indicated.

50m Events

The following points will be awarded to respective Houses and Individual Age Championship tallies following all 50m Events:

1st Place – 10 Points (Blue Ribbon), 2nd Place – 6 points (Red Ribbon), 3rd Place – 4 Points (Green Ribbon), 4th Place – 2 Points (Yellow Ribbon) and 5th – 10th Place – 1 Point.

Where there is more than one heat, points and ribbons will be awarded to the fastest swimmers overall. Students who are hoping to be considered for their respective Age Championship should swim as many 50m events as possible.

Open 100m Events

There will be NO points awarded to respective Houses and Individual Age Championship tallies following the 100m events. Students entering these events will compete against other nominated students of any age and with a focus on beating the relevant age record and becoming the King or Queen of the Pool for the relevant event.

Legal Strokes

In 50m and 100m events, except for the 8 years category, students will be judged and disqualified if their stroke does not meet the appropriate standard. As points gained from these events go towards age championship tallies, it is important that only legal stroke actions are awarded.

8 years events and all 25m events will not be judged in this way.

Event Nomination

Your child will be asked to nominate the events at a school nomination meeting with the PE Teacher. Please note the following points:

Students can choose between 25m or 50m event in each stroke. Students can nominate the Width event if not swimming the 25m or 50m event for Freestyle or Backstroke

Students can choose to ADD 100m events, only if they have chosen the 50m event for the relevant stroke.

It is expected that all children nominate themselves for at least one event in the strokes of Freestyle or Backstroke.

Children are asked to please only nominate for events that they can competently and confidently compete in.

Spectators are welcome to attend the Carnival. We will also be looking for volunteer helpers to run the stopwatches.
