Faith & Religious Education News
In Week 6 I completed my 10 Year APRE Review – I thank all the staff, parents and children who contributed to the 360 survey and were interviewed by the review panel members. I was overwhelmed by the positive response from the Our Lady of Lourdes community.
Our “Loving the Arts at Lourdes” was a wonderful event – Congratulations to Mrs Simmons, Mrs Holzheimer, Mrs Rosier, the artists, performers and musicians for their presentations. We also thank the staff for their support during practices, the catering core – Mrs Wagner and Mrs Hohn, the many aides who helped with set up and pull down, the members of the P and F for the bar service and event set up, Mr Verdon our artist in resident and Mr Haylock for being a great model, the balloon donation, Mr Franzmann for his jokes and the Year 6 waiters and of course our ever appreciative audience - list goes on – again an example of the OLOL Community Team working together.
Tomorrow, we celebrate our annual Father’s Day Mass. We thank all the Dads, Granddads, Pops and Pas who are able to come along to celebrate with us. We hope everyone enjoys our Sausage Sizzle morning tea. We thank the many cooks and helpers who are coming along to help us with this celebration! Cooking starts at 8:30 am - Mass at 10 am. We look forward to a wonderful community event!
Our next gathering for the Sacrament of 1st Reconciliation is on Tuesday 5th September at 7:00pm. A plan for the seating in the church will be emailed from the parish. The children will have a practise of the ceremony during school time on Monday and will be able to guide their chosen guests to their seats. We will have short final meeting at 3:30pm in the church on Monday 4th September to check seating, certificates, and final questions. Candidates and their chosen guests are asked to be at the church on Tuesday 5th September by 6:40pm. The children need to know their “Act of Contrition/Sorry” prayer. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the OLOL Parish (07 4634 1453 Monday – Friday 9.00am – 1.00pm) or email olol.parish@bigpond.com
We have our Crazy Socks Coloured Clothes Day on Thursday 14th September. Wear your craziest socks, with your sun safe coloured clothes, suitable footwear, brimmed hat and bring along a gold coin for the Catholic Mission. Also, remember to bring in a pair of new socks for our school donation to The Base Soup Kitchen. Socks can be sent in at any time. It is amazing the sense of dignity someone feels when they have a new pair of socks to wear. Please support both these initiatives to encourage our students to be thoughtful Global Citizens for our local and global communities.
There is no assembly on Thursday 31st August 2023 due to the Father’s Day Mass and Thursday 7th September2023 due to lower school swimming commitments.
N.B. There is a Pupil Free Day on Friday 1st September 2023 – Teachers will be gathering at Mater Dei school for Staff In-service
Our End of Term Assembly is at 12 noon on Friday 15th September 2023.
